Wind Turbines / Generators

We can supply a small range of DIY install wind generators as a full kit up to 1KW.  All kits are DC output and require a bank of deep cycle batteries and come with inverters to convert to 240V AC.
The only other items you will need are cable and concrete. The size and length of cable depends on the location of the turbine in relation to the batteries and inverter. The shorter the better and the larger the cable the better to reduce any losses.

Why Wind turbines?

Why not make use of the free energy in the wind. When the wind blows there can be so much energy in it that it mostly tends to go to waste and it’s free. The only thing that will cost you is the purchase of your turbine. These are particularly useful in remote areas where there is no mains supply. Storing energy in batteries means you can use the power when it’s not windy. Add some PV panels to your system and you have the opportunity to use the suns energy when it’s not windy.

Wind generator, Hub and fixed wing aerofoil Blades Furls out of wind to avoid damage in high winds.

Why use batteries?

As you know the wind doesn’t blow every day and we don’t always want power when the wind is blowing. We usually want power when we can’t generate it. For this reason it is necessary to store it for later use whether it be in batteries, selling back to the grid or heating water.
